Gorilla Tag - Swing Through Trees With Nothing But Your Arms

Gorilla Tag reimagines the childhood game of tag with a locomotion system that uses your arms as the primary means of movement. Push off surfaces with your virtual hands to run, climb, and swing through a forest environment while either chasing or fleeing from other players.

The movement system is what makes Gorilla Tag special. There are no joysticks or buttons for locomotion. You move by physically swinging your arms against the ground, walls, and trees. It feels awkward for the first five minutes and completely natural by the tenth. The skill ceiling is enormous: experienced players can reach speeds and perform maneuvers that look impossible to newcomers.

The game modes are simple but effective. In infection mode, one tagged gorilla tries to tag others, and each tagged player joins the hunting team. In hunt mode, a single gorilla is the target and everyone else chases. Both modes create different dynamics: infection builds tension as the safe group shrinks, while hunt focuses all pressure on one player.

The forest environment is designed for the movement system. Trees are spaced for swinging, rocks provide launch points for jumps, and cave systems offer hiding spots for evasive players. Every surface is a potential tool for movement, and learning to use the terrain is as important as raw arm speed.

Community is a big part of the Gorilla Tag experience. Public lobbies are social spaces where players develop their own games, challenges, and movement techniques. The lack of voice chat moderation can be a downside, but private lobbies with friends offer a more controlled environment.
